Topas Ecolodge

Sapa is a well-known former French hill station and a major tourist destination in North Vietnam. It’s a natural starting point for exploring the unique mountainous area, including the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, and the Fansipan Peak – Indochina’s highest peak at 3,143m. The region is also home to five different hill-tribes, each with its own distinct language, dress and cultural values. Some of the villages, especially those located deep in the remote parts of the mountains, are still largely untouched by modern life.


The main attraction for tourists visiting Sapa is to visit the ethnic minority villages. While there are many opportunities to experience the hidden trails, breathtaking scenery, fascinating local culture and way of life of the mountainous people. Topas Ecolodge consists of 33 stylish chalet-style stone bungalows built using local white granite from the Hoang Lien Mountains. They are categorized in two types, Premium Executive Bungalows and Suite Bungalows.


Premium Executive Bungalows


You will love staying at one of their 29 premium executive bungalows, each with its own private balcony and stunning views of the Ban Ho Valley, Thanh Kim village and Mt. Silverstone in the Hoang Lien mountain range.

The modern Nordic-style interiors are rustic and simple, yet comfortable, of equal size and built as rustic single bedroom houses from local white granite. All are equipped with air conditioning and a minibar. For family or group bookings, it is possible to connect one premium executive bungalow with a suite bungalow and share the private connecting terrace.

Suite Bungalows


Built as two story chalet-style houses, entrance is through the second floor which comprises a beautiful and modern living room, private balcony and a spacious toilet area including a natural stone bath, shower and toilet.


The ground floor features a private layout with bedroom, connecting toilet and private terrace. The interior design is Nordic-inspired while remaining in keeping with traditional Vietnamese style. All suite bungalows are equipped with air conditioning and a minibar. For group bookings, it is possible to choose one suite bungalow and a premium executive bungalow and share the connecting private terrace.


Size: 56 m2, including private balcony, living room, bedroom and two bathrooms. There is also a private terrace with outdoor furniture.

Topas Ecolodge is situated 18km outside Sapa town, and the bus journey from Sapa takes approximately 45 minutes. The lodge is a comfortable base near the minority villages, giving travelers the option of a comfortable stay in a remote area, close to local life.

The Stilt House Restaurant is located in their main building and was created using two old traditional Tay stilt houses, carefully moved piece by piece from their original site and reassembled at the lodge.


To provide their guests with multiple dining options, they have recently opened their grill-based restaurant – The Pavilion Barbecue which features a unique outdoor hilltop dining experience.




Topas Ecolodge is designed as a simple retreat in natural surrounds and therefore facilities have been kept to a minimum. They have a small shop where you can buy handicrafts made by ethnic minority people living in the area, a restaurant, lounge area, and spa. In 2017 they added an infinity pool which has quickly become one of the highlights of the lodge.
