A Glimpse of Laos

This is an ideal itinerary for those visiting Laos for the first time, taking in some highlights of Laos and magnificent sites predating the Khmer Empire. Beginning from the capital Vientiane where you will have a feeling of the tranquil Laos, spend time on the Wat Phou Rice Barge to take in the beautiful sights and sounds of Southern Laos from the water. Continue onto meander slowly along the Mekong River and visit the UNESECO World Heritage Site of Wat Phou, before heading towards the beautiful 4,000 islands - home to the Irrawaddy dolphin. End your trip in Luang Prabang, an oasis of calm with many Buddhist temples and witness the unique sight of saffron-robed monks.

  • Day 1: Vientiane Arrival

    Upon arrival in Vientiane, Laos’ capital, you will be met by your tour guide and driven to your hotel by a private car.

  • Day 2: Vientiane (B)

    Vientiane city tour with your guide, visit some religious and cultural highlights of the capital such as the famous Pha That Luang, Patuxai monument, and the temple with thousands of Buddha figures – Wat Si Sakhet. The city tour will show you more of the country as a whole, a great beginning for your Laos vacation.

  • Day 3: Pakse (B, L, D)

    This morning you will fly to Pakse in the south of Laos, where you will cruise on the Wat Phou Rice Barge. Visit the well-known Wat Phou, an ancient capital in the 5th century and a part of the former Khmer Empire in the 10th century, which is now UNESCO World Heritage Site. Evening is at your own leisure, enjoy a lovely meal onboard the river barge.


  • Day 4: Pakse (B, L)

    Enjoy your second day aboard the Wat Phou Rice Barge, on which you will travel south towards the 4,000 Islands. Along the way, visit a beautiful pre-Angkor temple, and hopefully at some points during the cruise you may be lucky enough to see a rare Irrawaddy dolphin.


  • Day 5: Luang Prabang (B)

    In the morning you will visit the Don Khone Island, which is an old port established by the French colonists. And also the impressive waterfalls of Khong Kha Peng if time permits. Afterward, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Luang Prabang. Upon your arrival in Luang Prabang, get picked up and taken to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free at leisure.

    Today you will explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Luang Prabang, a Laos’ treasure, with your private guide. You may want to rise early to witness the unique sight of hundreds of saffron-robed monks as they stream the streets at morning alms giving.

    Enjoy your free day to explore the town at your own leisure, take in the laid back atmosphere of Luang Prabang with a refreshing Beer Laos on the bank of the Mekong at sunset is a great experience.

    Enjoy your breakfast and your leisure during the last moment in Luang Prabang, you will be picked up and transferred to the airport in time for your flight home.
