Cooking Class at Your Chef’s Home
Vietnamese cuisine is unique in Southeast Asia for its many influences, including the Chinese who dominated parts of Vietnam for a thousand years and the French who ruled the country nearly a century. Participate in an engaging half-day cooking class highlighting the bold, fresh flavors of the Vietnamese food at the exclusive home of your chef. You can request to learn how to cook the dish you wish, or the chef will choose the menu based on what’s in season.
Begin with a trip to Dai Tu Market, where you will shop for freshest ingredients. During the leisure walk around the market, the chef will point out the different kinds of herds, vegetables and fruits typically used in Vietnamese dishes, including familiar ones such as lemon grass, green onions, hot chili and mints, as well as those that might be new to you, like Vietnamese coriander, piper lolot and purple perilla leaf. At the chef’s house, learn about the living of a Vietnamese family while touring the house, and enjoy a private, hands-on cooking demonstration, with tips on presentation and chopstick usage before savoring your culinary creation.
